Boeing 737NG CAAC Level 5 Qualification

Date: October 10, 2019

On Thursday, October 10, 2019, WBFT succeeded in the qualification of its Boeing 737NG Fixed Based Flight Simulator. The training device has received a CAAC Level 5 approval and as such can be used for professional flight training, type rating, and type recurrent programs. In a close partnership with ASafety a professional flight training center in Tianjin China, the qualification process was carefully prepared and executed. Obviously both parties are delighted with this result and see that hard work and close cooperation has resulted in this milestone. From the beginning of 2020 onwards, the device is expected to be “Ready For Training” (RFT).

It was an afternoon and evening of festivities at WBFT Netherlands when we celebrated our second anniversary on Thursday December 12 2019. All colleagues, including families were invited for a couple of hours of fun at the Escape World in Hoofddorp where small teams had to make their way out of challenging escape rooms. After that, the whole group went to “Wereldrestaurant Enjoy” in Hoofddorp for a lovely dinner, where the relative short history of the company was briefly reviewed by our Managing Director Mr. Yubin Wang. “Having accomplished a lot in relative little time, allows us to reset our ambitions and raise the bar towards the future”.

Date: July 24, 2020

We are proud to announce that we qualified Cessna 172 CAAC level 5 in China last week. The simulator has been delivered to Sichuan Longhao Flight Academy and is ready for training after the qualification. We are the first local company in China achieving this certification and the third company worldwide. This is another important milestone after we qualified B737NG CAAC level 5 in 2019.

We have been awarded to deliver four further C172 simulators to another flight school in China, which will be delivered in the following weeks.
The company’s focus will now be directed towards the certification for A320 and DA40, aiming to be finished by the end of the year.

We came together virtually to celebrate the company’s 3rd anniversary. We reviewed our accomplishments and other highlights of the past year, as well as an outlook of projects for 2021. Afterwards we enjoyed a typical Dutch borrel with snacks and some drinks while playing some online games. A fun time was had by all, but in the future we hope to celebrate such events together in person!

As a response to the recently published newspaper article about Venyo, Wright Brothers Flight Technology releases the following statement:

The Wright Brothers Flight Technology is an innovative high-tech company with a focus on the development and manufacturing of fixed-base flight simulators for the professional flight training industry and the high-end entertainment sector. Our company is part of the Wright Brother Group. WBFT was established in 2017 and focuses on simulation software architecture and development. We want to attract international talents for our product development. With our commercial department, we expand our sales to the EMEA region, after successfully establishing our business in China in the last years.

The Wright Brothers Flight Technology bought one simulator from the former Belgium company Venyo. This former company Venyo competed in the fixed base flight simulator market, among many other companies with a similar product range and offer, such as our company.

The reason for the purchase was to acquire the collimated visual system of their simulator since we have a European customer that is interested in this kind of visual system. Since our company does not build this specific kind of visual system, we normally buy it from an external supplier. With the sale of Venyo, we saw the possibility to purchase the collimated visual system at a good price. It was not possible to acquire this part of the simulator separately, hence we bought it as one piece from Venyo. We design and manufacture our simulators since 2014, such as the Boeing 737-800, Airbus 320, Cessna C172, and Diamond DA40/42. We already sold several of our simulators. Therefore, we have no interest in the use of the rest of the hardware design of Venyo.

Regarding the software, WBFT does run on a made source code, developed by our engineering team in the Netherlands. Our software is based on the original Boeing data pack and controlled and protected under EU regulations by the Dutch office and meets any standard set by authorities and commercial clients alike. Therefore, our software is incomparable to the software of Venyo and we never had an interest in purchasing or using their software, or in the business as a whole.
